The Maria da Penha Law (Law 11,340/2006) represents a milestone in the fight against domestic and family violence against women in Brazil, guaranteeing protective measures and more severe punishments for aggressors. This work analyzes the applicability of this legislation, considering its positive impact on the protection of women and awareness of women's rights. However, despite advances, the law faces challenges in its effectiveness, such as the lack of adequate infrastructure, the slowness of the judicial system and the insufficiency of public policies to accompany victims. The study addresses the flaws in the implementation of the Maria da Penha Law and proposes solutions that can strengthen its functioning, aiming for greater efficiency in the protection of women victims of domestic violence.
