This study analyzed mortality among the elderly in Paraná, Brazil, in 2023, using secondary data from the SUS Mortality Information System (SIM). There was a predominance of deaths among individuals aged 80 years or older, representing 42.7% of all deaths. The main causes of mortality were circulatory diseases (30.6%), neoplasms (20.2%), and respiratory diseases (13.6%). These findings highlight the vulnerability of the elderly population to chronic and degenerative conditions. The results underscore the need for public health policies focused on the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases to improve the elderly's quality of life.
