Parental separation is a complex and delicate event for children, and can leave profound scars on their emotional well-being. In addition to the breakdown of the family unit, this experience can lead to drastic changes in the child's life, such as changing residence, school or social circle. These sudden changes often generate feelings of anxiety, instability, anger, fear, insecurity and even guilt of abandonment. Such effects can result in school difficulties, challenging behaviors and impaired emotional development. This study investigates the lasting effects of parental separation on children's mental health, such as the increased risk of emotional disorders such as depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders, in addition to analyzing how this experience can influence choices and behaviors in adulthood. In addition to identifying the negative impacts, the research also aims to understand the protective and resilience factors that can mitigate these effects. The research considers the role of social support, effective communication between parents, access to psychological resources and individual resilience traits. The aim is to identify intervention strategies that promote the well-being of children in situations of family separation, emphasizing the importance of emotional support and open communication during this difficult period. It is important to highlight that children's response to parental separation may vary depending on factors such as age, personality and the quality of support received, which implies the need for personalized approaches in the care and guidance of these young people.
