Introduction: Burnout Syndrome is a growing issue among nursing professionals, negatively affecting their physical, mental, and emotional health, as well as the quality of care provided to patients. Objective: This study investigates the prevalence, risk factors, and impact of this syndrome, aiming to understand its implications and identify prevention and intervention strategies. Methodology: The study is an Integrative Literature Review, exploratory and descriptive in nature, utilizing a qualitative approach as described by Mendes, Silveira, and Galvão (2008). Results: Sixteen publications available on various academic and scientific platforms, including Bioethics Journal, Portuguese Journal of Occupational Health, Multidisciplinary Scientific Journal Knowledge Center, Text & Context - Nursing, Psychology PT, and LILACS, were analyzed. Conclusion: The investigation revealed a concerning scenario with excessive workload, lack of organizational support, and adverse working conditions as main risk factors. The Covid-19 pandemic intensified these factors, increasing the incidence of Burnout. Impacts include higher propensity for errors, lower job satisfaction, and higher absenteeism rates, compromising healthcare efficiency and safety. Prevention and intervention strategies highlight the importance of promoting a healthy work environment, implementing psychological support programs, and training professionals to manage stress. The research underscores the urgent need for effective interventions to prevent and mitigate Burnout Syndrome, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for nursing professionals to ensure quality care for patients.
