Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to investigate the role of nursing care in the prevention and clinical management of dengue, a viral disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti, with a focus on early screening, treatment and health education. Given the increasing incidence of the disease and its relevance as a public health problem, the importance of nurses' role in controlling outbreaks and reducing associated complications is highlighted. Objective: To evaluate the role of nursing care in the prevention and management of dengue, with an emphasis on early identification, clinical treatment and supportive care, seeking to improve nursing practices and improve the quality of care provided to the population. Methodology: The study was developed through a descriptive and exploratory literature review, with searches in databases such as SciELO, BVS and PubMed. Terms such as "dengue", "nursing care" and "clinical management" were used. The selected articles were critically analyzed for their relevance and contribution to the topic in question. Results: The analysis of the studies revealed that nurses play a central role in the screening and clinical management of dengue, especially in the early identification of warning signs, administration of fluids, and monitoring of patients with severe forms of the disease. In addition, community educational actions stand out, which contribute to the elimination of breeding sites for the vector mosquito and to the prevention of the disease. Conclusion: Nursing care, combined with ongoing training and epidemiological surveillance, is essential for the control of dengue. The efficient performance of nurses, both in the clinical and educational contexts, has a direct impact on the reduction of complications and the improvement of public health. The standardization of care protocols and intersectoral collaboration are essential to ensure the effectiveness of these actions.
