Acne treatments are individualized through a clinical diagnosis, aiming to reduce the activity of the sebaceous glands and decrease the bacterial population. Objective: this study aims to comparatively analyze topical and oral treatments and aesthetic procedures for acne, highlighting the ideal type of treatment for each type of acne. Methodology: a bibliographic survey was carried out in the National Library of Medicine (Pubmed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Google Scholar databases between January 2020 and November 2024. Original articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish, with publication dates between 2020 and 2024, were included. Result: 16 studies were selected according to the inclusion criteria, 7 referring to causes, degrees and types of acne and 9 related to diagnosis and treatments. Conclusion: after analyzing the results, it can be observed that the results of acne treatment can vary significantly from individual to individual, depending on the severity, condition, type, as well as the particular response of patients to treatment, making it essential to seek professional guidance appropriate to personal needs and adaptations.
