Abstract

The increase in violent attacks on educational institutions in Brazil in recent decades raises urgent questions about the role of the State in protecting these spaces. This article seeks to analyze the role of the State in the security of educational institutions, focusing on the need for specific measures to prevent and combat violent attacks. It proposes an integrated approach that combines physical security, psychosocial support and prevention, highlighting the importance of monitoring, inclusion policies and combating bullying. It also advocates strengthening legislation on gun control and social media monitoring. It is concluded that state action must go beyond police presence, promoting a culture of peace and the involvement of the school community.
