According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are more than 200 transmissible diseases that can be classified as zoonosis, however, due to a lack of knowledge, there has been a misconception that these pathologies are only those with a one-way transmission, from animal to human. Human influenza (Influenzavirus type A), for example, is a viral disease that can affect ferrets (Mustela putorius furo), classifying it as a zooanthroponosis, that is, a primarily human disease that can be transmitted to animals. The present work aims to analyze the knowledge about zoonosis and raise awareness among veterinarians and pet owners about the importance of care for the prevention of Influenza A in ferrets.
