Abstract

The general objective of this study was to verify the mechanism of action of botulinum toxin and its aesthetic applications. The methodology used was a systematic literature review, with data collected from the following databases: PubMed, LILACS, and Scielo. The results indicated that botulinum toxin is one of the most effective aesthetic procedures, with minimal risks when applied correctly.
