Abstract

This article analyzes the application of compliance at Empresa Vale, one of the largest mining companies, highlighting its commitment to governance and corporate responsibility. Despite the compliance policies and practices implemented, the Mariana and Brumadinho incidents presented very significant gaps in risk management and standards. These events emphasize the importance of continually reviewing and strengthening compliance and risk management practices to ensure safe and responsible operations, essential to maintaining a trustworthy corporate image.
