The study focused on examining the profile of anabolic steroid users and the adverse effects resulting from their use, aiming to raise awareness about health risks and the importance of specialized medical supervision. Data from 38 bodybuilders were analyzed, covering aspects such as age range, types of steroids used, frequency and duration of use, as well as reported side effects. The methodology involved administering questionnaires to gather information on users' behaviors and perceptions regarding the consumption of these substances. The results showed that all participants were men, primarily aged between 24 and 34 years, and that steroid use was predominantly continuous and injectable. The most commonly used steroids included Testosterone Enanthate, Trenbolone Acetate, and Oxymetholone (Anadrol). The study indicated a high prevalence of significant adverse effects, such as hair loss (68.4%), hypertension (39.5%), and mood changes (44.7%). Despite the associated risks, 89.5% of respondents reported positive impacts on their personal and professional lives, and the majority sought medical supervision to monitor their health. In conclusion, although users are aware of the risks of steroid use, the pursuit of rapid aesthetic results, often driven by digital media influence, remains prevalent. This underscores the need for more effective strategies that combine education about the dangers of improper use and ongoing medical support, addressing both the physical and psychological well-being of bodybuilding practitioners.
