The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is a band of fibrous and robust tissue located in the knee that has the function of joining the bones, located in the knee, a complex joint of the lower limb, composed of the femoropatellar and femorotibial joints, which consists of muscular, ligamentous and bony structures. The study aims to evaluate the characteristics of the pathophysiology of the ACL in recreational athletes during the rehabilitation process, through the identification of strategies that have scientific efficacy regarding the rehabilitation of the anterior cruciate ligament in recreational athletes, in addition to highlighting the importance of the professional physiotherapist in the process of prevention and treatment of ACL injuries in athletes. Thus, when a recreational athlete is injured, immediately after identification and confirmed diagnosis through imaging tests, the development of strategies for the beginning of treatment begins, which may be pre and/or postoperative, work developed by the physiotherapist.
