The general objective of this study is to analyze the importance of the role of pharmacists in the dispensing and control of antimicrobial drugs, highlighting their contribution to the rational use of these drugs and the prevention of bacterial resistance. The methodology used was a bibliographic research, based on articles, dissertations, theses, books and official documents published between 2020 and 2024. The development of the work explores the role of pharmacists in patient education, public awareness about antimicrobial resistance, and the promotion of the rational use of antimicrobials. The study also discusses the contribution of pharmacists to therapeutic efficacy, through strict control of the dispensing and adequate use of drugs, preventing inappropriate or excessive use and avoiding the development of bacterial resistance. It is concluded that pharmacists play a crucial role in preventing bacterial resistance, ensuring the responsible use of antimicrobials and promoting patient safety. Their actions, based on legal and regulatory guidelines, contribute significantly to the efficacy of treatments and the sustainability of therapeutic interventions in the long term.
