This article aims to examine, through a literature review, the applicability of theoretical bases in the various branches of engineering, highlighting the connection between physical theoretical foundations and their practical implications in engineering. The methodology used is based on the critical analysis of scientific studies that address the application of physical principles, mainly with regard to thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and electromagnetism, in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and environmental engineering projects. The results highlight the relevance of physical phenomena for understanding basic concepts and building a solid and safe foundation. Furthermore, we also note its relevance for the development of advanced technologies, energy efficiency and structural innovation. Therefore, it is concluded that a solid understanding of the physical principles linked to the practice attributed to engineering allows the creation of safe, sustainable and efficient technological solutions, and is therefore essential for the evolution of engineering practices.
