This article aims to investigate the prevention of rotator cuff injuries in water polo athletes, a sport that requires repetitive and intense movements, particularly in the shoulder joint. Through a systematic literature review and data analysis from questionnaires applied to water polo athletes, the study identified the main factors contributing to the high incidence of injuries in this area, such as excessive use of the joint during throws, the lack of stable support during movement, and the absence of adequate preventive programs. Strengthening the stabilizing muscles of the glenohumeral joint has proven to be an effective strategy for reducing injury occurrence. In addition, the implementation of prevention programs focused on the mobility and muscular endurance of athletes can significantly improve performance and minimize the risk of injury-related absences. It is concluded that appropriate physiotherapy intervention is essential to ensure the longevity of athletes and promote long-term well-being.
