Autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) present multisystem manifestations that occur when there is a relationship with parasites, which can trigger autoimmune responses or have an immunomodulatory role. In this review we explore the interactions that can arise from autoimmune diseases and parasitic infections. To achieve this objective, an integrative review of the literature related to autoimmune diseases, mainly lupus and parasitic infections, was carried out, elucidating which are the main parasites, how they interact with immunocompromised patients, and what are the means of having a diagnosis and treatment. After research on data platforms, 17 works were selected, which ended the review that was carried out. Given what was found, it is clear that it is extremely important that there is always research and studies regarding the interaction of parasites with patients who have autoimmune diseases, because at the same time that it can bring harm, this interaction also offers benefits in some cases of autoimmune patients.
