THE IMPORTANCE OF NURSES IN PREVENTING CERVICAL CANCER IN PRIMARY CARE

Cervical Cancer (CC) is the development of a tumor in the cervix caused by cellular changes, that is, precursor lesions, which if diagnosed and treated early are totally cured most of the time. The objective of the study is to analyze through scientific production the role of nursing in the prevention of Cervical Cancer in the challenges of Primary Health Care. The methodology used was the integrative literature review, the bibliographic survey for the research was carried out through online indexers, which are referenced in the Virtual Health Library, Scientific and Technical Literature of Latin America and the Caribbean, Online System of Search and Analysis of Medical Literature and Scientific Electronic Library Online. The data were collected from June to July 2021, the final sample was 10 publications between 2019 and 2021, which had as inclusion criteria: full articles that deal with nursing care in the prevention of cervical cancer, in Portuguese languages. The exclusion criteria: duplicate articles, prior to 2019. The results showed that nursing plays an important role through actions to prevent this type of cancer, in addition to performing technical care, administrative and educational activities. It is concluded that preventive actions carried out by nursing are of great value for the reduction, or even eradication, of cases of cervical oncology, educational advertising campaigns, lectures and community participation in public health policies make the difference against this great villain of women.
