The grieving process consists of a readjustment to reality, and it is essential for individuals to experience these stages, as they help the bereaved to reorganize and reconfigure their lives. By examining the dimensions of collective grief and the psychosocial challenges faced during this process, this study seeks to understand how communities cope with traumatic events. Utilizing a qualitative approach through a literature review, recent studies on the topic were analyzed, with an emphasis on the five stages of grief. The research aims to analyze the psychological and social impact of grief resulting from disasters and the challenges faced by affected communities. Additionally, the analysis is grounded in Resolution 510/2016 of the National Health Council, which highlights the importance of research that contributes to the scientific literature. By gaining a deeper understanding of the grieving process in community contexts, this study hopes to provide valuable information for mental health professionals and students, as well as psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to offer more effective support to communities affected by tragedies and similar events.
