Abstract

The study aimed to understand the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the treatment of fibromyalgia, evaluating the techniques used to relieve pain and improve the quality of life of patients. To this end, an integrative review of the literature was carried out, using specialized scientific databases and descriptors such as "fibromyalgia", "physiotherapy" and "pain treatment". The selected articles were published between 2019 and 2024, including clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses that directly addressed the role of physiotherapy in the management of fibromyalgia, with 15 articles used. The work focused on pharmacological or surgical interventions were excluded, maintaining the focus on physiotherapeutic approaches. As a result, it was shown that physiotherapy is effective in managing pain and improving the quality of life of patients with fibromyalgia. Techniques such as kinesiotherapy, hydrotherapy and electrotherapy were highlighted as particularly beneficial, promoting pain reduction, increased muscle flexibility and improved sleep. The multidisciplinary approach, which includes interaction between physiotherapists and other health professionals, was also emphasized as fundamental for therapeutic success. Finally, it is concluded that physiotherapy plays a crucial role in the treatment of fibromyalgia, offering pain relief and functional improvement to patients. Techniques such as kinesiotherapy, hydrotherapy and TENS are effective in reducing symptoms, and the personalized approach contributes significantly to the success of the treatment.
