Humanized childbirth is an approach that prioritizes respect, autonomy, and the well-being of the pregnant woman and the newborn. It emerged as a response to the traditional model, which is often overly medicalized and overlooks the emotional and social needs of women. In recent decades, this practice has gained momentum through social movements that emphasize women's rights, fostering a welcoming environment and encouraging active participation from the woman in the childbirth process. The implementation of humanized childbirth within the hospital network requires structural and cultural changes, including training for healthcare teams, the creation of comfortable environments, and the adoption of protocols that individualize care. Support for the presence of companions is essential to ensure safety and comfort for the pregnant woman. Adopting humanized childbirth can lead to better outcomes for mothers and babies, providing more positive and healthy birth experiences. It also represents a significant advancement in the quality of obstetric care, aligning with the needs and expectations of contemporary women.
