The general objective of this study is to analyze the role of pharmacists in preventing the misuse of antibiotics, aiming to reduce bacterial resistance and promote the rational use of these drugs, ensuring their long-term therapeutic efficacy. The methodology adopted is based on a bibliographic survey research with a qualitative approach, using documentary sources such as the Guidelines for Structuring Pharmacies of the Federal Council of Pharmacy and academic articles available on Google Scholar. Articles published between 2020 and 2024 were included, and materials that did not meet the established criteria were excluded. The results indicate that pharmacists play a crucial role in guiding patients and health professionals, collaborating in the development of protocols and educational campaigns to promote the appropriate use of antibiotics and avoid self-medication. The role of pharmacists is essential to mitigate the risks of bacterial resistance, improve adherence to treatment and reduce therapeutic costs. It is concluded that strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration and investing in awareness campaigns are fundamental measures to address the global challenge of bacterial resistance, promoting the long-term sustainability of antimicrobial treatments.
