Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a prevalent degenerative joint disease characterized by cartilage degradation and changes in joint structures, resulting in pain, stiffness and functional limitation. Its management involves a multidisciplinary approach that combines pharmacological interventions, such as analgesics and anti-inflammatories, with non-pharmacological strategies, including physiotherapy and physical exercises. In advanced stages, surgical options may be considered. Personalizing treatment is essential, taking into account the individual needs of patients. Health education and promotion of healthy lifestyles are also crucial to preventing disease progression. Ongoing research seeks to better understand the mechanisms of osteoarthritis and develop new therapies, aiming to improve long-term outcomes for those affected.
