Abstract

This article sought to emphasize the relevance of nurses carrying out cytopathological examinations in the prevention of cervical cancer.  This research adopted a qualitative approach, using a literature review to analyze the contribution of nursing to the prevention and care of cervical cancer. The results obtained highlight the importance of the nursing team in the prevention and care of cervical cancer, through a comprehensive approach that includes education, preventive exams and administration of vaccines. The discussion emphasizes the relevance of the Nursing Process to guarantee individualized care, highlighting the need for accurate diagnosis to improve clinical outcomes and patients' quality of life. The research highlights the importance of nurses in the prevention and care of cervical cancer, emphasizing their role in cytological collection, health education and diagnosis. Strengthening the work of these professionals is crucial to improving preventive care and the health system, promoting women's health and reducing the impact of cervical cancer.
