This article aims to analyze the factors that influence the role of teachers in the construction of high school students' life projects in Matipó/MG. The research, of a qualitative-quantitative, descriptive and exploratory nature, included the participation of students from three public schools and one private school. The study reveals that most students are female, are 16 years old or older, have a low family income and intend to pursue professional training after high school. The results show that the desire to improve the quality of life and get a job are the main reasons for entering higher education, pointing out factors that corroborate the importance of teachers in mediating the life projects of these students. Therefore, teaching performance must align with the development of socio-emotional skills, pedagogical training and effective public policies to transform the educational environment into a powerful tool for personal and social development, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to carry out their life projects and achieve their academic and professional goals.
