Our concerns in this study are focused on the search for a theoretical reflection on the category of indiscipline, confronted with the empirical universe of a municipal school in the city of Bom Jesus, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. We will define as the object of analysis students in the initial grades of elementary school. This involves problematizing the understanding of indiscipline by teachers in this space, and its effects on the broader school environment. In this sense, we will seek to revisit the sociological elements that permeate the idea of indiscipline, considering that the socialization of subjects produces different postures and thoughts in social life, and that the family institution plays a central role in this human constitution. Thus, we consider the idea that indiscipline also results from a socio-historical process, and not from a naturalization of bodies and their behaviors. Critically exploring these phenomena will be our main analytical investigation, and to do so, delving into the vision that teachers have of this category – indiscipline – will be the main substrate for relating it to their teaching methods and pedagogies put into practice in their daily professional lives and, consequently, the influence it exerts on the school they inhabit.
