Abstract

In contemporary times, there is a growing demand for analysts to actively engage with constantly evolving cultural issues. This article reflects the expansion of psychoanalysis beyond its traditional fields, raising discussions about its applicability in diverse contexts. This study used a literature review methodology to explore clinical psychological practice, influenced by psychoanalysis, based on professional experience in an institutional care home called Casa da Criança in Ibimirim/PE. It reflects the application of psychoanalysis in institutional contexts and its interaction with public social assistance policies. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of understanding the experiences and challenges of caregivers to promote a more effective work environment and improve the care provided to institutionalized children. It is fundamental to preserve the essential principles of psychoanalysis in this process of expansion. In different environments, psychoanalysts maintain the same guidelines. However, the question arises as to what defines a psychoanalyst, inviting reflection on their function and role in contemporary society. The study also addresses the challenges and failures in psychoanalytic practice within institutional contexts, highlighting the difficulties in establishing therapeutic bonds and adapting the individualized approach to the limitations of the collective environment. The psychoanalyst transcends institutional boundaries, becoming an agent of transformation and understanding in various social spheres. Faced with critical social situations, they are called upon to understand and intervene in the psychic processes underlying collective suffering, seeking to promote genuine change at both the social and individual levels.
