This article addressed recreation in schools from early childhood education to the initial grades of elementary school. The general objective was to analyze the importance of recreation and the entire process and moments that immerse children in a context of play, magical and precious moments, in which the ability to observe and maintain focused attention is exercised and which will infer efficiency and productivity as adults. Recreation is a form of spontaneous communication, and toys can also be used as an instrument to facilitate the teaching and learning process. However, children have the right to play and be stimulated in each of their sociocultural and intellectual aspects. The research instruments that supported the methodological support of this work are based on bibliographic research, based on published books, articles, periodicals, among others. In short, the conclusions of the research refer to play as a serious element that develops the imaginative aspects of children who, at the same time, learn rules and develop their cognitive, psychological and social capacity. To illustrate the work, bibliographic research was used. The conclusion was that recreation itself should be seen as an integral part of each stage of the student's school life, especially in early childhood education, continuing into elementary education, as it is through these resources that the construction of the child's subjectivity and autonomy will continue, in all intellectual aspects.
