Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most common neurobehavioral disorder of childhood. Although it can be treated, it is not yet fully understood how much Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help individuals manage the symptoms of this disorder. Considering this fact, this work sought to present and discuss the effectiveness of clinical treatment of ADHD. To this end, a literature review was carried out, using studies published in the last five years, with the exception of classic authors and important studies. The results obtained may contribute to expanding the informational universe of researchers in the field, as well as to clinical practice based on the ethical and technical precepts of psychological science. It was possible to verify the importance of using cognitive-behavioral therapy, as a psychotherapeutic approach with better results for this type of disorder and the importance of neurological evaluation to verify the need to prescribe medication, in addition to other treatment alternatives that have shown effective results. The results highlighted the importance of CBT for the treatment of ADHD, which is the most effective technique for treatment, providing a better quality of life for the individual with ADHD and their family.
