Abstract

This article explores the relationship between traffic accidents and health education, highlighting the importance of educational interventions for promoting road safety. The research was conducted through a comprehensive literature review and analysis of statistical data from traffic and public health agencies, using terms such as "traffic accidents", "health education" and "accident prevention". 5 articles published between 2010 and 2023 were analyzed, which addressed the causes, impacts and preventive measures of car accidents. The results revealed that human factors, such as reckless driving and alcohol consumption, are the main causes of accidents. Road conditions and weather factors also contribute significantly. Health education programs, including awareness campaigns and specific training, have shown to be effective in reducing risky behaviors and promoting safe driving practices. The combination of education, road infrastructure improvements and strict enforcement policies has emerged as a key approach to reducing traffic accidents. The discussion emphasizes the need for ongoing interventions adapted to local realities, as well as more research in developing country contexts to evaluate the effectiveness of different strategies. It is concluded that an integrated approach, supported by robust public policies, is essential to achieve a sustainable reduction in traffic accidents and their consequences.
