This article explores the transformation of higher education in South America through the integration of social networks, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities that arise from this phenomenon. Focusing on equity and accessibility of education, the research addresses how social networks redefine pedagogical methods, promote transnational academic collaboration, and affect the traditional dynamics between students and teachers. Using a qualitative methodology that includes literature reviews and selected case studies from South American countries, the study reveals that social networks can significantly increase access to knowledge and facilitate educational engagement in a context marked by inequalities. Finally, it discusses the social implications of these changes, emphasizing the need for appropriate policies to ensure the ethical and safe use of these platforms. Social networks are identified as potential tools to modernize education, making it more inclusive and adapted to the demands of the digital society.
