The purpose of this study is to conduct a bibliographical review on the teaching of geography in the first years of elementary school, with the aim of investigating and suggesting educational strategies that stimulate meaningful and integrated learning. The discussion in question is necessary due to the relevance of the study of geography in the context of elementary education. Through it, children are encouraged to investigate and understand the interactions between society and the environment, as well as cultural diversity. Finally, we aim to answer the following questions, how can we ensure that geography teaching in these grades is not limited to transmitting information about location and physical characteristics, but also stimulates critical thinking, environmental awareness and understanding of different social realities? In summary, continuous training and investment in teacher training and educational policies that promote an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to geography teaching has significant relevance for geography teachers in the early grades.
