This work aims to address the issue of disability and inclusion, which has undergone changes over time. Changes in every sense: in the technology available to minimize its effects and in the view we have today of people who have any disability. Here, we will come into contact with the dynamic history of Special Education: beliefs and values from the last century no longer determine ways of behaving in the face of disability; the concepts of disability, the role of the family in the process of acceptance and inclusion, the school and its collaborators and also the current legislation that deals with the topic. We are building a new story, in which difference is the keynote and respect for it must exist in relationships between men. The progression of history also culminates in the construction of a body of laws that determine the ways in which society must obey when interacting with people with disabilities. To carry out this study, a literature review was used as a methodology, where ideas from different authors allow reflection and self-analysis for both education professionals who now find themselves with multiple classrooms, with special students; as well as for families who start to see inclusion and its benefits in a different way.
