BENEFITS OF OZONE THERAPY IN DENTAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Abstract

Ozone therapy in the field of dentistry has been carried out since the Resolution of the Federal Council of Dentistry that authorized its use by professionals duly qualified in this area by an institution registered by the Ministry of Education. Ozone is used in gaseous, aqueous and oil forms, all of which can be applied in Dentistry. The theme of this study is based on the benefits of ozone therapy used in surgical interventions in dentistry. To this end, the objective of this study is to verify the benefits of ozone therapy in dental surgical procedures where exploratory bibliographical research was carried out with a qualitative approach developed from already prepared materials, using as main sources books, scientific articles, theses and monographs published between the years 2014 and 2024. After completing the research, it was found that the use of ozone therapy in dental surgical procedures is effective, where its main benefits are its antimicrobial effects, it stimulates tissue repair and considerably reduces pain in the post-surgical period. However, there is still a lack of randomized studies that present more reliable effects.
