This article aims to develop a reading of two images by the artist Sansão Pereira, seeking to problematize the idea of representation and identity, based on some concepts addressed by the philosopher and art historian Didi-Huberman, such as the concept of dialectical image, volumes and symptoms. We start with a brief reflection on the discourses built around a certain Acre identity, and the role of the arts within the set of devices, to be used as reaffirming elements of these discourses. On the other hand, we approach an art that escapes figurative elements, provokes and invites us to enter the unknown of the image and find there, the symptoms that can lead to other insights into what is invisible to the eye. The importance of this study is also due to its contribution to new critical approaches around aesthetics and art history, which seeks to break with old concepts and rhetoric of certainty around the arts.
