Through a bibliographical review, this article analyzed the need to promote playful activities in the daily school life of Youth and Adult Education (EJA). The appreciation of play, in this teaching modality, is an essential aspect for the student's motivation and understanding, in their literacy and literacy process. The strategies and playful activities at EJA are related to the cultural appreciation arising from the life context of each person participating in the process and aspects that contribute to the association of the contents studied within the classroom. It is observed that there is a lack of training to work in EJA and that teachers and education professionals need to continue investing in strategies that value play, cultural aspects and democratic actions, so that education is a transformative act in Brazil.
