This paper is an approach to the topic of Financial Education in schools. Knowing that the National Common Curricular Base addresses the importance of introducing Financial Education in the early years, as an interdisciplinary study involving cultural, social, political and psychological dimensions, in addition to the economic one, this study has as its general objective to analyze and understand the skills and abilities of students in the early years of Elementary School in the public school system of Cariús, related to controlling expenses, saving, investing and making responsible financial decisions. A qualitative research approach was adopted, collecting data in two elementary schools in the municipal network of Cariús. The data were collected through a questionnaire applied to some of the students in these two schools and after collecting their responses, a tabulation was made through graphs, thus demonstrating the profile of each student interviewed. The conclusions suggest that the participants have an understanding of the topic, although many do not link it to the classroom curriculum, which indicates the need for improvement and insertion of a specific Financial Education discipline.
