This article aims to understand and show some relevant points of interdisciplinarity in education, taking as a starting point the search for its definition, although several definitions are found, depending on the field of study in which interdisciplinarity is inserted. Although there are several definitions, it can be observed that there is a point of convergence between them, and that from an interdisciplinary approach it is possible to use tools that can assist the process of acquiring knowledge. However, interdisciplinarity finds barriers to be overcome, but which, in general, are not capable of generating obstacles to its adoption in the classroom. In many cases, interdisciplinarity finds a fertile field for its adoption, becoming used almost organically. Thus, interdisciplinarity can be an important ally in the teaching-learning process, especially in the reality we live in, where communication does not find borders.
