Autism, currently called Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a disorder that affects the ability to relate to people, it is a neuropsychiatric disorder, classified as a cognitive disorder, the affected person presents behavioral changes, in communication and in its development, there is a variation of degrees and each one defines its impairment, the symptoms can vary, it is a peculiar neurodevelopmental disorder and the number of children diagnosed has grown in Brazil, it is predisposed to having other syndromes such as Deficit Disorder disorder with hyperactivity (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), is considered a chronic pathology, resulting from brain dysfunction that makes its identification difficult, the prioritized treatment is symptomatic and Cannabidiol (CBD) presents itself as a complementary therapy which obtained positive impulsive results from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) crises as it is a non-psychoactive component of Cannabis sativa, emerged as a potential therapeutic intervention. This work seeks to examine the biological and behavioral characteristics of CBD in ASD therapy, including its mechanisms of action, efficacy and clinical implications.
