Abstract

This study explores the crucial influence of biomedicine in the diagnosis and treatment of acute carbamate poisoning, a clinical condition of significant relevance due to the widespread presence of these compounds in diverse sectors, especially agriculture. Using a bibliographic review methodology, scientific articles from the PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar databases were examined, covering the period from 1998 to 2024. The main objective was to analyze how the role of biomedical scientists impacts the diagnostic process and therapeutic decisions in carbamate poisoning. The results demonstrated that biomedicine plays an essential role in the early detection of poisoning, through the performance and interpretation of laboratory tests that identify the presence of the toxic agent and monitor the effectiveness of the treatment. An analysis of clinical cases indicated a wide range of symptoms associated with poisoning and highlighted the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in patient management, reinforcing that biomedical expertise is vital to guide therapeutic strategies, ensuring effective recovery and contributing to prevention. of new cases.
