Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the concept that elementary school teachers, from a city in the interior of Bahia, have regarding the concepts of Special Education, Inclusive Education and Intellectual Disability. According to bibliographical research, interviews and participant observation, we obtained data that provide us with a real vision of the space that Special Education occupies, with some responses denoting the obstacles that this modality faces, which is offered by all regular education schools from the country. In the process developed, it was highlighted that the lack of continuing training for teachers is one of the factors that make it difficult for inclusive education to actually happen. Such a proposal needs to occupy its space in the history and reality of children who are excluded from the brazilian educational system.
