The present article aims to analyze the interference of the media in the due legal process and its effects on the subsequent conception of the applicability of criminal proceedings. Its main objective is to discuss the consequences of media-driven penal populism on due legal process and on the security of the guiding principles of the accusatory system. Furthermore, it seeks to examine how the media, by sensationalizing the process, can intervene, manipulate, and simplify complex issues to meet social expectations, thereby contaminating the application of the law, due legal process, and the consequent deprivation of liberty as a rule. The deductive approach and theoretical research method were employed, utilizing bibliographical and documentary sources.
