Social security is a fundamental right that guarantees support for workers when, for whatever reason, they lose or diminish their ability to work, and it must be maintained by them. However, when young people enter the job market, they know little about the rights and duties of the social security system, resulting in a lack of social security. Based on this assumption, this study aims to demonstrate the importance of social security education for the Social Security system and for the citizens and workers themselves, as it allows rights to become effective and highlights the relevance of social security contributions. The work also aims to propose an analysis of the current panorama of social security awareness among university students on the Law course at the State University of Tocantins. To this end, a survey was carried out with students from the 1st to the 10th period, using a form with open questions where participants could record their understanding of Social Security. The results showed that there was a majority interest in Social Security Education, and acknowledged its importance, but revealed a limited understanding of Social Security.
