Abstract

Chronic liver diseases represent a significant public health challenge due to their gradual progression and potentially serious complications. Emerging strategies have been developed to optimize the treatment of these conditions, seeking to improve clinical outcomes and patients' quality of life. Objective: To examine emerging strategies in the treatment of chronic liver diseases and their clinical outcomes, using a comprehensive approach based on scientific evidence. Methodology: The review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science databases were consulted to identify articles published in the last 10 years. The descriptors used included "chronic liver diseases", "treatment", "emerging strategies", "clinical results" and "systematic review". The inclusion criteria were studies that investigated therapeutic interventions for chronic liver diseases and reported relevant clinical results. Exclusion criteria were studies focusing exclusively on acute liver disease or pediatric populations, and studies without available data on clinical outcomes. Results: The review identified a number of emerging strategies in the treatment of chronic liver diseases, including direct-acting antiviral therapies for chronic viral hepatitis, anti-fibrotic agents for liver cirrhosis, and liver replacement therapies for advanced liver disease. Promising clinical results were observed, such as high rates of sustained virological response in patients with chronic viral hepatitis and improvements in survival in patients undergoing liver transplantation. Conclusion: In conclusion, the treatment of chronic liver diseases is evolving rapidly with the emergence of new therapeutic strategies. This review highlights the importance of an integrated, evidence-based approach to improving clinical outcomes and quality of life for patients with these complex conditions.
