THE RELEVANCE OF THE EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY COORDINATION FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION PROJECT

The objective of this review article is to present a short panorama of the Education Technology Coordinator's role in the implementation of an education technology project at an education institution. The article stresses her/his relevance for the planning of activities, supporting the institution's staff, aligning the school syllabus using the emergent technologies in education. It highlights the importance of continuing education for staff training, promoting extension to other teachers, fostering their adherence to the use of digital tools, hence transforming teaching practices into rich and transformative experiences in knowledge building. (S)he should raise awareness of all collaborators involved and the top managing staff of the magnitude of the implementation of an education technology project. The article also demonstrates that, for the Education Technology Coordinator to lead a project implementation, (s)he should develop several other abilities, such as leadership, mastering of technological resources, proactivity, and good communication skills. (S)he should conduct collective planning, adapt the institution for the adequate use of educational resources, fill in gaps, opening doors to a new form of teaching-learning, and promote interactions through meetings, dialogues, and experiences interchange, mediating and leading the process of insertion of emergent technologies into her/his institution.
