Youth and Adult Education was built as a teaching modality that enables youth and adults to return to school education. Illiteracy marginalizes the individual in society, as it excludes them in social and economic terms, as it contributes to barriers in accessing work opportunities to obtain income. In this context, the literacy process was developed in the initial grades of elementary education in Youth and Adult Education. The general objective of this study is to discuss literacy strategies in Youth and Adult Education. This study is characterized as a bibliographic research. The development of this study is justified by the importance of thinking about literacy strategies in Youth and Adult Education, especially in relation to their singularities. Literacy strategies in Youth and Adult Education must contemplate the singularities involved in the learning of their students. Therefore, literacy strategies in EJA contemplate the approach of sociocultural relations, encompassing social and collective knowledge.
