This study addressed the implementation of peer instruction in higher education, focusing on the use of online collaboration tools to promote more active and participatory learning. The general objective was to understand how this methodology could be effectively applied, both in face-to-face and online environments, to engage students and develop social and emotional skills. Through the analysis of relevant literature, it was identified that peer-to-peer instruction, supported by digital technologies, facilitated the creation of an interactive educational environment, where students actively participated in the construction of knowledge. Furthermore, online tools have expanded the possibilities for interaction, contributing to the development of essential skills. However, implementation faced challenges, including the need for educators to adapt and unequal access to technologies. It was concluded that peer-to-peer instruction represented a promising methodology for higher education, requiring a cultural change in educational institutions to reach its full potential.
