Abstract

The present work dealt with the theme of racism in Brazil, taking into account its historical context and respective consequences arising from a colonial culture that sustains itself. Within this scope, we sought to point out reflections on the Brazilian educational environment and its relevant role in reducing social and economic inequalities, suggesting pending issues for this resolution. For this, it relied on scholars such as Djamila Ribeiro, Nilma Lino Gomes and Paulo Freire, who invested their intellect in disseminating theories about overcoming racist paradigms and the possible reasons for their existence in the school sphere in order to gradually help in the implementation of a democratic rule of law based on dialogue and recognition of differences as something valuable, especially in schools.
