This article examines the interaction between constructivist education and popular sovereignty in contemporary Brazil. Initially, the context of the 1988 Constitution is established as a fundamental milestone in the consolidation of the democratic Rule of Law, emphasizing the prioritization of individual and fundamental rights as the basis of state organization. However, the importance of critical education is highlighted to enable citizens to understand and defend these constitutional rights. The constructivist pedagogical approach is explored as one of the essential pillars for civic education, based on the theories of Jean Piaget. Furthermore, the principles of education proposed by Paulo Freire are analyzed, highlighting his emphasis on conscientization and the transformative capacity of education as an instrument that grants autonomy to individuals. Regarding popular sovereignty, the importance of democratic exercise is emphasized. Education is recognized as a crucial component to empower citizens to actively participate in the political and social life of the country, thus promoting the consolidation of popular sovereignty. In this sense, education acts as a tool to promote citizenship and strengthen democracy in Brazil. The article highlights the relevance of the constructivist education and popular sovereignty dyad.
