The central objective of this research is to present the main historical and social transformations that information and communication technologies have brought to the educational environment. In view of this, it is possible to affirm that the figure of the educator plays a primary role in opening up the appropriate use of information and communication technologies, therefore, the various educational areas, such as management and planning, can benefit from the integration of these technological advances . Given these considerations, it is possible to ask the following question: what transformations have technological advances encompassed in education? Finally, this study seeks to understand the role of technologies in education.
