PREVALENCE OF FEAR OF PREGNANCY AND TOCOPHOBIA IN ACADEMIC FEMALES AT A UNIVERSITY CENTER

Introduction: Describe the knowledge that academics in the field of applied social sciences at a university center present about tocophobia and the excessive fear of pregnancy. Objective: Search the prevalence of this phobia and its repercussions on social and academic life. Methodology: The research is based on the application of an online questionnaire with academics, where the data obtained will be quantified and described, seeking the prevalence, triggering and aggravating factors of excessive fear. Result: The prevalence of fear of becoming pregnant after sexual intercourse was 93.2% and 77.2% stated that the fear had some negative impact on their personal relationships. Furthermore, it is clear that fear is present even in a population that is massively nulliparous and uses contraceptive methods. Conclusion: Validation of fear is important, as the fear of pregnancy is present in the group of academics analyzed, having a pathological impact on their daily lives and their relationships.
